Call to start your referral
There's no contact form on this site — a short conversation gets your job matched faster and more accurately than a form ever could. Calls are the fastest path from "stump in the yard" to "provider scheduled."

What to have ready when you call
The better you can describe the job, the better the match. You don't need exact measurements — a few details go a long way:
- ▸
Your location. City or town and a rough idea of the area — the match is local, so this comes first.
- ▸
How many stumps. One backyard stump and a cleared half-acre are very different jobs; the count shapes the match.
- ▸
Rough size. A tape-measure diameter is ideal, but "about as wide as a dinner plate" works too. Height above ground helps.
- ▸
Tree type, if you know it. Oak, pine, sweetgum, maple — the species affects grinding time and approach.
- ▸
Access. Fenced yard? Narrow gate? Steep slope? What's between the street and the stump?
- ▸
What you want afterward. Grass, mulch bed, replanting, construction — the provider sets grinding depth around your plans.
- ▸
Hazards. Storm damage, leaning trees, nearby utilities or septic — mention anything dangerous upfront.
Service area note
We serve the entire state of North Carolina — the Mountains, the Piedmont, and the Coastal Plain. Our current city coverage includes Asheville, 42 Piedmont cities from Charlotte to Raleigh, and 8 coastal cities including Wilmington, Greenville, and Jacksonville, with more areas being added over time.
If your town isn't listed yet, call anyway — coverage is expanding, and we'll tell you honestly whether we can currently match a provider in your area rather than leaving you guessing.
A word on timing: stump grinding is seasonal work in North Carolina, and demand spikes after major storms — especially along the coast after hurricanes and in the mountains after ice storms. If your situation is urgent — a tree on a structure, a blocked driveway, a leaning trunk — say so when you call and you'll be prioritized accordingly. For routine jobs, the best time to call is as soon as the tree comes down: fresh stumps grind faster and cleaner than rotted ones, and you'll have your pick of scheduling.
Referral reminder: North Carolina Stump Grinding is a referral service that connects you with independent local stump grinding providers. Quotes, scheduling, and all work are handled by the matched provider — we make the introduction, they do the job. If you ever have questions about how the referral process works, just ask when you call; we'll explain it plainly before anything is scheduled.
